Where PossAbilities Begin:
Respite & Supported Holidays

Everyone deserves a change of scenery. Our short breaks provide a vital “pause” for both carers and the people they support. We offer a welcoming, non-clinical environment where guests are encouraged to stay active, socialise, and enjoy life in the community.

We support adults with a variety of needs, including those with complex disabilities. Whether it is a single overnight stay or a two-week holiday, every experience is tailored to the individual’s requirements.

Your Home Away From Home

We offer two unique settings in Rochdale and Littleborough. Both are designed to feel like a home rather than a clinic, providing 24/7 support for people with varying levels of disability.

  • Harelands House, Rochdale: A detached home featuring five bedrooms with en-suite facilities. This house includes two accessible bedrooms equipped with profile beds, hoists, and wet rooms.
  • Leighton House, Littleborough: A stylish lakeside home with three accessible bedrooms featuring profile beds. Other rooms offer standard single or double beds with adjacent or shared “Jack and Jill” bathrooms.

Please note: Accessibility varies by room. We work with families to ensure the right environment for your physical needs.

“Its hugely valuable to us and we’re grateful for it.”

Active Days & Seasonal Fun

A break with PossAbilities is about staying active and connected. Guests are encouraged to explore the community and participate in activities, both in the house and out in the local area.

  • Weekly Activities: We support people to get out and about for swimming, trampolining, cycling, rock climbing, and our popular Friday night disco.
  • Seasonal Highlights: We embrace the time of year with activities like pumpkin picking at Halloween and trips to the Panto at Christmas.
  • Seamless Support: For those who access our Day Services throughout the year, we offer a tailored service that bridges their daily routine with their overnight stay.

See what’s possible during your stay.

Flexible Support Options

We offer flexible options ranging from a single night to a full two-week holiday experience. This serves as an alternative or additional experience to our standard short breaks.

  • Complex Care: Our service is designed for people with varying levels of disability, including those with complex needs who require a high level of specialist support.
  • Non-Clinical Approach: While we provide 24/7 care, the focus remains on a homely experience where people are empowered to live the life they choose.
  • Holiday Experiences: For those assessed to access the service, we provide a proper holiday atmosphere, ensuring a change of pace and a positive break away from home.
  • Emergency placements: We offer Emergency Placements, or Short-Term Care which is a safe temporary stay for adults while longer term plans are arranged. All referrals come through the Adult Care Team. When someone arrives, we complete a full assessment and work closely with families and professionals. During the stay, we explore future options and support a smooth transition.

How To Get Started

Taking the first step towards a short break is a collaborative process. Our team is here to provide guidance and ensure everyone feels comfortable and informed.

  1. Getting started is as simple as a phone call or email. We work with social workers, district nurses, and care managers and families directly.

  2. We arrange a visit to Harelands House or Leighton House. This is an opportunity to tour the facilities, meet our experienced managers, and discuss specific care requirements.

  3. Once a location is chosen, we work together with the individual and their family to design a stay that works for them, ensuring a smooth and stress-free transition.

It all starts with a chat!
