Innovation

Shaping tomorrow, together.

At PossAbilities, innovation isn’t about flashy tech or buzzwords, it’s about creating real, practical tools that help people live more independent, connected lives. We believe support should constantly evolve around the people who use it and the families who rely on it.

From purpose-built homes that foster autonomy to pioneering digital apps and social tools, here is how we’re rethinking support.

YourGo

A key element of any learning disabilities support is to help adults engage in meaningful activities that develop their life skills. However, all too often, carers don’t have the time, confidence, or resources to do this. The result is that days can pass in a repetitive cycle of watching TV and repeating basic tasks. These aren’t fulfilling for either the adult or the carer, and don’t support the adult to progress.

So, the YourGo project was born from the desire to address this issue. When we began, we had no idea how much we would learn or how many cycles of creativity, testing, and reflection we would go through. Each stage started with a prototype, was tested over several months with dozens of people, and brought us one step closer to something that delivers real results in the everyday world.

In a nutshell: YourGo is a PossAbilities initiative that helps people explore everyday life, develop skills, have better conversations and try new things.

Its resources are organised around the YourGo Wheel, covering 48 Life Skills across eight areas of life, and include Life Skill Cards, step-by-step activity resources such as the ‘What’s Next?’ cards and the new YourGo Chat Cards.

YourGo has been developed over five years through co-production and testing with people with lived experience, families, staff, professionals and partner organisations and we now have a number of fantastic products – some are even available to by on Amazon! GenAI Together

GenAI Together is an 18‑month research project led by Manchester Metropolitan University, bringing PossAbilities CIC and 3 other orgainsations supporting adults with learning disabilities into an exciting project to explore how generative AI can support adults with learning disabilities to live the life they choose. The project is fully co‑produced, with people shaping every stage — Talk Together, Ideas Workshop, Making Workshop, and Share What We Made.

This model focuses on building genuine relationships within a stable, family-style environment. It provides a sense of belonging and a safe space for people to grow their independence.
For PossAbilities, this is another step in our commitment to trying new things, testing creative ideas, and learning alongside the people we support. We champion positive risk‑taking, independence, and technology that genuinely works for real lives. GenAI Together helps us explore new ways for people to connect, express themselves, and shape their own futures.

Building the dream

working hard to make a difference by building high‑quality own‑front‑door homes for adults with learning disabilities.

Our first development – 17 modern, accessible apartments has already given people the chance to live in a home that is truly theirs: private, safe, and designed for independence with 24/7 support available when needed.

Across the country, people with learning disabilities tell us they want what everyone wants: a place that feels like home, not a room in a service. So we decided to keep doing something about that. We’re now creating another 17 apartments in a second location, doubling our commitment to giving people real choice about where and how they live.

We build homes that are warm, fit for the future, and developed with the people who will live there. This is independence with dignity and a bold step toward helping people live the life they choose.
